hen thinking about Type C tanks in storage and transportation
of liquefied gas on ships, the expression ‘you can’t teach an old
dog new tricks’ comes to mind. However, looking at developments
and new applications for Type C tanks over recent years, it becomes clear
that they can no longer be compared with an ‘old dog’. Type C tanks have
undergone a significant transformation in application and design options
over the last decade. Starting with their application in the small scale LNG
market, and domination of this particular fleet, they found their way into
the large scale ethane trade, and have been established as one of the most
viable options for LNG fuel gas tanks.
