BS is a pioneer in the safe transport and handling
of gas and has extensive experience with the
full scope of gas-related assets. ABS classed the
largest LNG carriers in service and has gained a reputation
over many decades for technical work that supports
innovation in gas transport and the use of gas as fuel.
The ABS Global Gas Solutions teamoffers guidance
across the full range of gas-related shipping projects. Whether
for floating structures, gas fuel systems and equipment, gas
carriers, or for regulatory and statutory requirements, the team
provides specification reviews, risk and hazard assessments,
bunkering suitability reviews, project management for new
construction and feasibility studies.
As the maritime industry moves toward the use of
new fuels for reasons of efficiency and regulatory
compliance, ABS has responded with the provision of
classification services that reflect its leadership in LNG as
fuel. This was reinforced with the publication of the
Guide
for LNG Fuel Ready Vessels
, which formalises the process
for clients who wish to plan for conversion to LNG fuel at
a future date by providing a detailed review and approval
and an associated class notation.
LNG Industry

ir Liquide Global E&C Solutions, the
engineering and construction activity of the
Air Liquide Group, supplies small to large scale
plants and equipment to serve applications ranging
from peak shaving, LNG as a fuel, to baseload LNG
for export markets. Air Liquide’s cryogenics business
has been at the heart of the company for more than
110 years. This know-how was used for LNG in the late
1960s with the development of the first baseload LNG
plant in Algeria, with a total capacity of 1 million tpy.
A further 15 LNG peak shaving facilities have been
constructed.
With the increasing demand for cleaner energy
alternatives, Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions has
reignited its offer to the market. Its innovative solutions
include technologies and equipment for standardised
small size plants, modularised mid to large size plants,
and equipment for LNG regasification. Some key
benefits include improved plant efficiency, high
reliability, simplicity of operations and maintenance,
scalable end-product, as well as the overall Air Liquide
partnership from conception through to start-up.
