Hyundai E&C awarded Al-Zour LNG import
terminal project
H
yundai Engineering & Construction has
announced that it has received a contract to
construct a large scale LNG plant in Kuwait, alongside
Hyundai Engineering and Korea Gas Corp. (Kogas). The
deal is valued at over 3 trillion won.
The Al-Zour LNG import terminal project will
include the construction of a regasification facility and
eight LNG storage tanks, as well as the civil works for
coastal facilities in Al-Zour, 90 km south of Kuwait’s
capital, Kuwait City.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction said that
it expects to be in charge of the construction of
the LNG tanks and the docking facilities, while
Hyundai Engineering will build the regasification facility.
Kogas is responsible for commissioning and operation
training for the client. Construction is expected to take
58 months and is scheduled to be completed in 2020.

Hitachi LNG terminal construction completed
T
okyo Gas Co. Ltd has announced that it has successfully
completed the construction of the Hitachi LNG terminal
in the Hitachi Port area, Japan, and that operations have now
begun.
In addition to this, the company has commenced usage
of the Ibaraki-Tochigi line – a newly built, high pressure
trunk line. Tokyo Gas now has a 950 km, high pressure
pipeline network that mainly serves around the Tokyo
metropolitan region.
Construction of both the pipeline and the LNG terminal
commenced in 2012, as Tokyo Gas sought to meet growing
demand for gas.
Tokyo Gas is now preparing to construct a second
LNG tank for the Hitachi LNG terminal. It expects that
construction will be complete by 2020. The company claims
that energy security will be improved in the Kanto region
by looping high pressure trunk lines through connecting the
existing Kashima Waterfront line and the newly planned
Ibaraki-line.
